Amy Marie Thurman, 41, of Hartford City, IN, passed away at 9:25 AM on Monday, January 27, 2014 at her residence in Hartford City.  She was born on Tuesday, February 01, 1972, in Blackford County.  She married James "Jim" Thurman on Saturday, February 25, 1995 in Hartford City at St. John’s The Evangelist Catholic Church.  Amy was a 1990 graduate of Blackford High School and a 1994 graduate of Purdue University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Entomology. She was a 10 year Blackford County 4-H member and was a current 4-H Tractor Club Leader. She worked at Tech Services in Bluffton, where she had been employed for the past 17 years.  Amy was a member of the St. John’s The Evangelist Catholic Church in Hartford City and the Blackford County Breast Cancer Awareness Group. She holds both the Montpelier Middle School and the Blackford High School records in the 1600 meter run. Amy loved to run and enjoyed watching both of her children run in their school meets. She liked flowers, gardening, sewing, crafts, cooking and baking. Amy enjoyed going camping and traveling as well, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.  She will be missed always by her family and friends; she truly was the best Mom in the world.

 

Survivors include: Father - Larry Aulbach, Hartford City, IN., Husband - James "Jim" Thurman, Hartford City, IN., Daughter - Ashley Thurman, Hartford City, IN., Son - Andrew Thurman, Hartford City, IN., Brother - Joe (Wife, Joni) Aulbach, Hartford City, IN., Brother - Mark (Wife, Shea) Aulbach, Hartford City, IN., In-Laws - Richard & Barbara Thurman, Hartford City, IN., Sister-in-law - Jane Ann (Husband, Chad) Stroble, Dunkirk, IN., Joy (Husband, Steve) Leavell, Fayetteville, AR and Emily (Husband, Eric) Leas, Hartford City, IN and Several Nephews and one Niece. 

 

She was preceded in death by her: Mother - Julia (Ganser) Aulbach, Maternal Grandparents - Simon & Elizabeth Ganser and Paternal Grandparents - Leo & Agnes Aulbach.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The rosary service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Funeral Home.

 

A service to celebrate Amy’s life will be at St. John's The Evangelist Catholic Church 209 South Spring Street Hartford City at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 01, 2014 with Father David Newton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery in Hartford City.
