Art Vorhees, 89, of Geneva, IN, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IN.  He was born on June 12, 1934, in Bryant, IN to the late Lyle & Dorotha Vorhees. Art was a 1952 graduate of Geneva High School. Shortly after high school he married the love of his life, Anna Hirshey, on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1953; she passed away on August 28, 2009. Art spent his working career employed at Franklin Electric for 44 years, retiring in 1996. He had been a volunteer fireman for the Geneva Fire Department for 21 years. He was a past member of the Tri-State Gas Engines for several years and attended Geneva High Street Church. Art's favorite thing to do was going out to eat at Don Hall's restaurant. He always ordered the exact same thing, prime rib dinner, baked potato with sour cream & butter, Greek salad, and black coffee, every time!

Loving survivors include his son, Phillip (Wife, Denise) Vorhees, Geneva, IN, son, David (Wife, Lorie) Vorhees, Berne, IN, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren on the way, and sister, Loretta Gene, Ft. Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle & Dorotha (Leeper) Vorhees, wife, Anna Hirshey Vorhees, son, Michael Vorhees, daughter, Linda Vorhees, sister, Estella "Bonnie" Vorhees, and brother, Harold "Shorty" Vorhees.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

A service to celebrate Art's life will follow at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, with Pastor Joe Lampton officiating.  The burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Geneva.

Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
