Bernice (Chandler) Fear, 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away at her Hartford City second home at 8:15 AM November 13, 2023. She was born August 26, 1935, in Cincinnati, OH, the first child of Albert and Roberta Chandler.  Bernice had fond memories of attending school in Roll, Indiana. On November 17, 1951 she married John Fear at the Walker Funeral Home in Montpelier with Rev. H.T. Walker officiating. During their early marriage John and Bernice lived in Montpelier where she was an active member of the Baptist Church. During those years she also enjoyed working with youth as a girl scout leader.

Bernice was a stay-at-home mom until her four children were all in school. She then decided to go back to school to become a dental assistant. She greatly enjoyed her years working with Dr. Garrett in Hartford City. A few years later she developed a strong interest in antiques and opened a shop in Metamora, Indiana called Gramma's Gatherings. After closing that shop, she opened another in the basement of her home on Angling Pike. She sold and collected many civil war relics and enjoyed studying that era. Bernice also loved visiting WWII soldiers and listening to their stories. Bernice had a great thirst for knowledge and never skipped an opportunity to learn something new. In her later years the study of genealogy captured her interest, and she compiled several notebooks of information tracing her family lines.

Bernice enjoyed being around people. She and John were in square dance clubs both in Indiana and Florida. She also was an active member in Beta Sigma Phi sorority both in Hartford City and Port St. Lucie. She loved dressing up in costumes for parties and entertained often in her home until her health made that too difficult.

Bernice will be sadly missed by her Husband - John Fear, Hartford City, IN, Daughters - Judy (Mike) Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Nancy (Wayne) Drake, New Castle, IN, Darlene (Jerry) Christman, Hartford City, IN, Son - David (Kimberly) Fear, Hartford City, IN, Grandchildren - Matt Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Scott Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Jenny (Drake) Lansinger, New Castle, IN, Carrie Drake, New Castle, IN, Kristen (Tieken) Bennett, New Castle, IN, Ashlee (Fear) Routledge, Hartford City, IN, Andrew Fear, Speedway, IN, Joshua Fear, McCordsville, IN, Brother - Melvin (Sue) Chandler, Lima, OH, Sister – Linda (Wayne) Wilds, Port St. Lucie, FL, 16 Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Father - Albert Chandler, Mother - Roberta (King) Chandler, Brothers - Larry Chandler, Dennis Chandler, Half Brother - Joe Sparks, and Half Sister - Cindy Sparks.

Per Bernice's request there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a later date.
