Brian K.
Switzer
Nov 16, 1961 — Apr 28, 2026
Brian Keith Switzer passed away Tuesday, April 28th 2026 at the age of 64. He was born on November 16th, 1961. He graduated from South Adams High school in 1980 and then received a welding degree from Penn State. He was a journeyman and proud union member of the Sprinkler Fitters Local 669. Retiring from Shambaugh & Son in September, 2018, he completed 38 years in the industry.
Brian loved the outdoors. He took every opportunity to hunt, fish, and find morels. He was known to always have a garden; growing sweet corn, green beans, and the makings for his famous canned hot salsa. He loved to camp with his kids and prospect for gold. He engineered and built a large trommel used to find ounces of gold. He even spent months living off-grid in the mountains of Humboldt, California always keeping an eye out for Bigfoot and helping his son establish a homestead.
He was also an avid sports fan. He looked forward to golfing every year, especially with his daughter or the senior league at Wabash Valley Golf Club. He cheered for the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Colts, and he always caught the local high school football games and wrestling matches on the radio. He greatly enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews in sports events, and also cheered on his granddaughter during her dance recitals.
His love for animals serves as an example to us all. He never turned down a stray dog or the next litter of kittens.
He will be deeply missed by his two children—Robert Switzer of Miranda, CA and Maizy (Kyle) King of Bluffton, IN; grandchildren Emery and Croix King; his mother, Mary Switzer; two sisters Cindy (Kevin) Miller, and Rose (Doug) Horn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins; Thunder the dog and Blacky the cat; and many longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Switzer in 2021 and brother-in-law Randall Lehman in 2018.
Coffee in hand, we know he's in heaven taking his truck full of pups for a drive to spot deer.
