Obituary

Bridget Lee Green, age 62, of Van Buren, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 24, 1963, in Lafayette, Indiana, the eldest child of Steven and Betty Kitchel.

Bridget was the valedictorian of the 1982 graduating class of Lewis Cass High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Agricultural Finance at Purdue University in 1985.

She married the love of her life, Scott Green, whom she met at Purdue, on April 4, 1987. She told stories of him wooing her with Noble Roman's breadsticks, Dunkin' Donuts, and endless quarters for Pac-Man.

From a young age, she marveled at God's creation and loved to be outside. Her siblings tell countless stories of "Bridget the General" and her "loyal foot soldiers." Bridget loved gardening and tending to her orchard and flowers. She jumped at any opportunity to hike or bike.

It was easy to see Bridget's love for the Lord in all she did. Her relationship with Christ was the foundation for how she carried herself in this world. She dedicated her life to children's ministry as the director of Little Panther Preschool, where she worked for 24 years. Additionally, she served in children's programs at several churches throughout her lifetime. Her faith-based approach to education brought countless young minds to know the Lord. She believed a strong, Christian education would unlock future opportunities in life. Additionally, she served the community through Harvest House Food Pantry, 4-H, and her catering business.

Second only to serving the Lord, Bridget's love for her family was undeniable. She loved her husband, Scott, with all of her heart, and they cherished their time together. Bridget poured into her three children, raising them up as disciples for God's Kingdom. Finally, her passion to be the best Grammy to her grandchildren was a key focus in this phase of her life. Her grandchildren absolutely adore(d) her. She actively participated in their schooling. Grammy's army of little ones was always willing to follow her marching orders, both in work and play. Her legacy will be carried on through her love and investment in these little lights.

Bridget's father, Steven Kitchel, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Scott Green; daughter, Kelsey (Logan) Knox; sons; Cameron (Nicole) Green and Kendall (Erika) Green; grandchildren: Emery, Olson, Genevieve, Adley, Gus, Abigail, Harris, Tucker, Eleanor, and expectant grandchild #10; mother, Betty Kitchel; sister, Brenda (Kevin) Loveless; brother, Jeff (Lori) Kitchel, and numerous others in her large family.

Visitation will take place from 2:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike, La Fontaine, Indiana 46940.

A celebration of her life will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 3, 2026, at LaFontaine Christian Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County, IN.
