Clara E. Girod, age 9, of rural Berne, Indiana, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at Riley Hospital for Children. She was born on August 22, 2016, in Adams County, Indiana, to Jason N. Girod and Katherine E. Girod.

Clara was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a third-grade student at South Adams School, Berne.

Survived by her parents Jason N. Girod and Katherine E. Girod, her brothers and sisters, Nathan, Malinda, Joseph, Thomas, Jason, Katie, Fannie, Amy, and Jerry. Her grandparents, Nathan & Fannie Girod of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Jerry & Melinda Girod of Bryant, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Miriam Girod.

Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Girod residence, 6737 S – 75 E Berne, IN. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, with Bishop John E. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in the Bunker Hill Amish Cemetery, Adams County.
