Dawn Da-Ree
Monahan
Dec 19, 1972 — Jan 1, 2026
Dawn Da-Ree (Gibson) Monahan, 53, passed away at her home in Montpelier, Indiana on January 1st 2026 after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born and raised in Grant County to the late Robert (Bob) and Betty May (Buteau) Gibson on December 19th 1972.
Dawn graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1991 and went on to complete her education at Wrights Beauty School in 1993. As a beautician Dawn loved cutting and styling hair at salons including JCPenney and also became the go-to hairdresser for everyone in the family.
Her strong work ethic and dedication to provide took her in many directions in the workforce throughout her life. Aside from cutting hair, some of her most enjoyed jobs were QVC, Peyton's Northern, and most recently Red Gold where she acquired some very valuable friendships.
Dawn was self-taught, DIY, "let me YouTube that" smart. Very little could hinder her ability and determination to figure out how to fix, improve, create and do things herself, even without experience or prior knowledge.
A lover of adventure, taking chances and flying by the seat of her pants- Dawn was capable of navigating and leading with minimal fear. She enjoyed traveling and taking road trips, mowing her yard, thrifting, her pets, and grabbing a diet Pepsi and her lottery scratch offs at the convenience store.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents Bob, Betty, her mother's longtime partner Dick Elliott, and her Brothers David Gibson and Doug Gibson.
Dawn is survived by her 3 children, Kyra Oliver of Matthews, Brittany (Conner) Crouch-Monahan of Muncie, Alexander Monahan of Montpelier, Grandsons, Price Oliver and Slade Oliver of Matthews, One Brother, several nieces and nephews along with numerous friends.
She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
With Consideration of Dawns wishes she will be cremated with no services.
