Donald (Don) Jackson of Montpelier, IN. passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 6:22 AM after a long fight with Alzheimer's. Don was born on August 18, 1946 to Herman and Dortha (Carnes) Jackson. They preceded him in death. He married Mary Sills on October 17, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Montpelier. Don was a 1964 graduate of the Montpelier High School and had attended the Chicago Technical College where he received his drafting degree.

Don was employed at Dana in Marion for 32 years. He was an amazing woodworker and for years he was very involved in the Jaycees and city events. He designed the stage used for the Montpelier Jamboree and in the 70's made stages, floats, and many other projects for things like the Footlight Follies, Fantasy Land Christmas event and the Montpelier Bicentennial Celebration. Don was a scout leader for many years and was a great mentor to the boys that he served.

Don will be terribly missed by his wife of 59 years and amazing caregiver, Mary (Sills) Jackson of Montpelier, Children, Monte (Becky) Jackson and Diana (Freddie) Ball, all of Montpelier, and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Per Don's request there will be no services.  He will be laid to rest with his parents and daughter-in-law, Vicki Jackson at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.

The family would like to thank Stillwater Hospice for the great care they gave Don in the last few weeks.
