Donna "Susie"
Crouse
Nov 19, 1936 — Mar 29, 2024
Donna "Susie" Crouse age 87 returned home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 29th, 2024 after an extended battle with cancer.
She will be fondly missed and remembered by her husband of 64 years, Richard "Dick" Crouse. She also leaves behind two daughters: Kim (Dave) Fear, Lynn (Bill) Whitesell; grandchildren: Jennifier Dawson, Ashlee (Derrick) Rutledge, Andy (Abby) Fear, Josh (Brittany) Fear, Kristy (Ryan) Riggs; great-grandchildren: Holly (Jake) Ramey, Matthew Smith, Melody Garland, Carson Fear, Dallas Rutledge, Dillon Rutledge, Rylee Riggs, Harper Fear, and Charli Fear; great-great grandchildren: Sophia and Cameron Ramey; sibling: Sara (Bill) Crabtree; sister-in-law: Ann Simmerman, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her dearest and oldest friend of 80+ years, Sharon Sharp. She is proceeded in death by her parents Ralph and Mary Fae Simmerman, and brother Rex Simmerman, as well as several pets throughout the years, most recently a beloved neighborhood chicken named Rebecca.
Donna was the eldest of her sibling group born on November 19, 1936. She was a proud Hartford City High School Terrier, graduating in 1954; after which she married Dick on July 5, 1959. Susie enjoyed camping, bowling, planting flowers, traveling, and watching her beloved Boilermakers ball games. She followed Purdue games closely and could talk for hours about their stats. She is known for knitting her family Christmas stockings, her homemade noodles, her love of Precious Moments and snowmen, and her collection of "nice junk" that ranged from perfectly good Tupperware lids to stacks of old board games. Through the years, Susie has snuggled and rocked all the family babies and frequently is in attendance at various sporting events and activities to watch her grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and would often leave a visit with a big hug reminding you to "hurry back." She made it her mission to ensure loved ones knew Jesus and was comforted knowing she would see you again one day.
