Obituary

Elaine Marjorie (Roush) Ewing, 82, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on June 20, 2026. She was born on August 28, 1943, in Niagara Falls, New York, to Ruth and Richard Roush.

Elaine attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Over the course of her life, she worked as a dental hygienist and a preschool teacher, and she gave her time to others as a hospital volunteer. She was a kind, patient person who brought joy to everyone around her. She cared deeply for those she loved - for her husband through his illness, for her daughters through their school years and into their own families and for her grandchildren as she watched them grow and thrive. She had a gift for making people feel at ease. Her smile was so genuine that you could not help but smile too. Her infectious laugh was always there when you needed it.  Her sweet, gentle personality belied the quiet strength of a woman whose resilience, grace, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her.

She loved her "House in the Woods", which was her sanctuary. She designed it, regularly re-decorated it, and made it a unique expression of herself. She was never more alive than when spending time tending to her gardens, which overflowed with beauty.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stuart Ewing; her parents, Ruth and Richard Roush; and her brother, Richard Roush Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Erin (Ewing) Gardner and Jenny (Ewing) Shopp, and her three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Sydney, and Delaney.
