Esther U. Schwartz, 78, of Monroe, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IN.  She was born on Sunday, October 19, 1947, in Adams Co., IN. to Jacob D. and Martha (Neuenschwander) Schwartz.  She married John H.  Schwartz on Sunday, November 20, 1966. Esther was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Survivors include her 7 children, Marvin (Annie) Schwartz, Shipshewana, IN, Christie (Lizzie) Schwartz, Bryant, IN, John (Rosemary) Schwartz, Rives Junction, MI, Martin (Edna) Schwartz, Monroe, IN, Irene (Neil) Shetler, Monroe, IN, Marie (Clarence) Schwartz, Decatur, IN, Marlene (Menno) Wickey, LaGrange, IN, 2 brothers, Joe U. Schwartz, Monroe, IN, Christie Schwartz, Centreville, MI, 54 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, 2 sisters, Mary Yoder, Laura Schwartz, brother, Dan Schwartz, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at the Schwartz residence located at 555 E. 300 S. Monroe on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Funeral Services will be held at the Schwartz residence at 9:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2026 with Bishop Marcus B. Hilty officiating.  Burial will follow in the Schwartz Cemetery.
