Helen Irene Buckingham, 99, of Berne, IN, passed away at 5:05 AM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Swiss Village Inc. in Berne, IN.  She was born on Friday, April 13, 1923, in Berne, IN.  She married Clarence E. "Ittle" Buckingham on Sunday, October 22, 1944 at the Geneva First UM Church.  Helen was a 1941 graduate of the Geneva High School. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Berne, IN. She was a member of the Methodist Church Circle where she was also the church treasurer for many years and sang in the choir. She was a homemaker and worked at the Bank of Geneva from 1963 to 1989 as the controller. Helen gave tours at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site. She loved to cook, bake, quilt, and needle point.

She was preceded in death by her Husband - Clarence E. "Ittle" Buckingham, Father - Noah Sprunger, Mother - Amelia (Badertscher) Sprunger, Brother - Roger Sprunger, Sister - Katherine Sprunger, Brother - Adrian Sprunger, and Brother - Stanley Sprunger.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

A service to celebrate her life will follow at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 with Pastor's Jim Schwartz & Jeff Gaskill officiating.  Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.

Preferred memorials: South Adams Trails or Swiss Village Samaritan Fund
