James O.
Pinkerton
Nov 22, 1936 — Oct 20, 2022
James "Jim" O. Pinkerton, of Warren, IN, passed away on Thursday morning, October 20, 2022, at his home in Warren. He was born on November 22, 1936, to Albert B. Pinkerton and Christina "Louise" (Thompson) Pinkerton in Huntington, IN. Jim was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson Center School. Shortly after school he married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Mona Stanley, on April 19, 1957, at Plummer Chapel.
Jim was a lifelong farmer; it had always been his life's passion. He started farming before graduating high school for his parents and bought his first farm in 1958. Jim had a short "factory career" working a few years at RCA, General Tire, and Dana in Marion and delivered milk for Schenkel's Dairy in Huntington. In 1962 he started farming full time, and as the years went on his children joined the business. Over the years "Pinkerton Farms, INC.," grew into a large family business, where the passion for corn, soybeans and hogs became a way of life for several generations. Jim was proud to start the Huntington County Chapter of NFO (National Farmers Organization). One of Jim's greatest joys was living and working on the farm with his wife and family. Though most days were full of long hours and lots of hard work, it was his way of life; it is home. There was no place he would rather be, then home, on the farm, with his family.
Loving survivors include, son James Michael Pinkerton of Rochester, IN, son Daniel (Regina) Pinkerton of Warren, IN, son Joe (Debbie) Pinkerton of Huntington, IN; daughter Julia (Hal) Hoffman of Huntington, IN, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and sister, Connie Bowers of Huntington, IN.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Christina Pinkerton, wife, Mona Pinkerton, brothers, Gene Pinkerton & Ronnie Pinkerton and sister, Janice Williams.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 11 AM- 1 PM at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, located at 203 N. Matilda St. Warren, IN.
