Obituary

John R. Boyd, 69, of Warren, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

John was born on Aug 6, 1953, to E. Raymond Boyd and Ethel (Schermerhorn) Boyd in Huntington County, Indiana. He graduated in 1972 and married Gail (Straw) Boyd on May 19, 1978, at the First Baptist Church in Warren. John worked at CFM in Majestic for 34 years and KMA Lawn Tractor Sales for 11 years.

As a childhood "baby brother", John patiently served, as scapegoat for his big sister's shenanigans. As a man, he exhibited a playful ornery tendency that never failed to bring laughter and smiles to his loved one's faces.

John was a man of many talents. Characterized by his love of tractors, his passion was the restoration of vintage tractors and farm equipment. He was a prominent figure at various shows and festivals where he exhibited his creations. He was also known for his
restoration of various small engines and his design and building of various metal works. He loved coming up with the best ideas to "wow" folks at the local Pioneer Festival each year.

John was a kind, peaceful man who loved life and fought courageously to maintain that during a 6-year battle with lymphoma. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ethel Boyd.

Loving survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gail Boyd of Warren, IN, daughter, Joanie (Monty) Gerber of Marion, IN, sister, Carrie (Jim Ball) Laymon of Austin, TX, nephew, Phil Laymon of Los Angeles, CA, and grandpuppy, Diesel.
