John Fear 93, passed away peacefully at his home and went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2026. He was very much loved by his family, and by all his many friends, neighbors and former coworkers he met during his life. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice (Chandler) Fear, married 72 years in November 1951. Bernice Fear's only surviving sibling is Melvin Chandler. During their early years of marriage they were very active members of the First Baptist Church in Montpelier, Indiana.

John retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Marion, IN, as a Tool and Die Maker, and also served as a Union Committeeman. When he retired and became an avid snowbird, he enjoyed half the year in Indiana and the other half in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He built 2 homes in Hartford City, loved roller skating, ice skating, bowling, camping, boating and square dancing with Bernice. He loved playing many games including euchre and aggravation. He was there for everybody who needed help with anything. He offered physical labor, including that of fixing things, clearing debris from storms and giving financial assistance to family, friends, and neighbors when they were in need. There were never any strings attached to any of these acts of kindness. He had a soft and kind demeanor. You could count on him having a welcoming, wonderful smile and a witty sense of humor.

John was an incredibly humble, loving family man and will be missed by all, including his daughters: Judy (Mike) Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Nancy (Wayne) Drake, New Castle, IN, Darlene (Jerry) Christman, Hartford City, IN, Son: David (Kim) Fear, Hartford City, IN, Grandchildren: Matt Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Scott Clamme, Hartford City, IN, Jenny (Drake) Lansinger, New Castle, IN, Carrie Drake, New Castle, IN, Kristen Bennett, New Castle, IN, Ashlee (Fear) Routledge, Hartford City, IN, Andrew Fear, Speedway, IN, Joshua Fear, McCordsville, IN,16 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and several Nieces and Nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents: Freida Roush (Fear) and Charles Fear. John was the last surviving member of his siblings which include Mildred Garrison (Fear), Mabel Sills (Fear), Irene Huffman (Fear), Margaret Fear, Clara Conrad (Fear), Charles Fear, Delbert Fear, Delpha Trammell (Fear), Carl Fear, Patty Kellogg (Fear), Albert Fear, and Ray Fear.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember John at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, IN. 47359, on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Les Bantz officiating.
