John H. Schwartz, 82, of Monroe, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024. He was born on December 2, 1941 to Chris C. and Susan Schwartz. He married Esther U. (Schwartz) Schwartz on November 20, 1966. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Surviving are his wife, Esther, of Monroe, IN,  7 children; Marvin (Annie) Schwartz, Shipshewana, IN; Christie (Lizzie) Schwartz, Bryant, IN;  John (Rosemary) Schwartz, Rives Junction, MI; Martin (Edna) Schwartz, Monroe, IN; Irene (Neil) Shetler, Monroe, IN; Marie (Clarence) Schwartz, Decatur, IN; Marlene (Menno) Wickey, LaGrange, IN; one brother, Chris C. Schwartz, Decatur, IN; 54 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Joe, Amos, Jake, Peter, and Sam; sisters; infant daughter, Anna, Leah, and Susan; 2 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation is to be held at the John H. Schwartz Residence located at 555 E. 300 S. Monroe on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services are to be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the residence. Burial is to be at Schwartz cemetery. Bishop Joni M. Schwartz officiating.
