Jondajane Ford Hix Childers, 85, of Marion, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Millers Merry Manor in Marion.

She was born Thursday, September 26, 1940, in Hartford City, the daughter of Ivor J. and Dorothy M. Ford. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1958 and married Gene Hix in 1959. Together they farmed for 53 years in Washington and Center townships. After retiring from farming, she worked in lawn care and delivered newspapers. Jondajane enjoyed woodcrafting and loved putting puzzles together.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gene Hix and Merrill Childers; her sister, Thanamae McCammon; and her brother, Clayton Ford.

Survivors include her sons, Randy (Al Vachereau) Hix of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Ricky (April) Hix of Marion; her daughter, Candy (Steve) Pierce of Marion; her brother, Francis (Margie) Ford of Marion; her grandchildren Bryana (Luke) Turner, Jenni McVay, Tabitha (Nate) Delong, Kyle (Grace) Hix, Nathaniel, Damon, and Briana. several nieces and nephews; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
