Karen S. Conwell, 80, of Van Buren, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Heritage Pointe in Warren, Indiana.

Karen was born on November 4, 1945, in Huntington, Indiana, to Albert Lee Whitesell and Olive (Weinley) Whitesell. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1964 and was a longtime member of the Van Buren Methodist Church, what is now known as Van Buren Church of the Vine.

On June 23, 1968, Karen married Dewaine A. Conwell. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2009.

Karen was involved in her community and enjoyed spending time with others through her memberships, including the Van Buren Lions Club and her church. She had a special place in her heart for young people and loved supporting and encouraging them. Karen also worked with youth through South Huntington Youth Canteen, Inc. and The Switch Up in Van Buren. Her kindness and steady presence made a lasting impact on many young lives.

She is survived by her three sons, Kevin Dewaine (Amanda) Conwell of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ryan Dewaine (Alysha) Conwell of Van Buren, Indiana, and Jason Dewaine (Cara) Conwell of Huntington, Indiana; six grandchildren, Zachery, Ashton, Everly, Eli, Isaac, and Cyrus Conwell; her sister, Marsha (Bob) Bowers of Huntington, Indiana; and her sister-in-law, Diana Whitesell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ronald Whitesell.

Family and friends may gather for calling hours at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. located at the funeral home with Pastor Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Van Buren Cemetery.
