Kathy King, 82, of Harrison Township, Montpelier, IN, passed away at 6:50 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at University Nursing Center in Upland, IN.  She was born on Monday, May 18, 1942, in New Mt. Pleasant, IN.  She attended Governor I.P. Gray High School in Jay County. Kathy married Carl D. King on Thursday, March 9, 1967, in Hartford City, IN.  She was a cook for 18 years at the Bluffton Clinic, and for the Blackford County Schools for 50 years. Kathy was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years. She attended the Union Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Kathy started the Girls Softball Program in Montpelier. She was a member of the Sorority of Gamma Nu Womens Life, and she was involved with the Jolly Ranchers 4-H Club. Kathy enjoyed her time with family, and she especially loved watching her grandchildren play sports.

She will be forever missed by her son - Tony King, Montpelier, IN, daughter - Sharie Mertz, Hartford City, IN, daughter - Teresa (Brian) Ickes, Montpelier, IN, grandchild - Amber Bauer, Fort Wayne, IN, grandchild - Abby Sharp, NC, grandchild - Sharon Caldwell, Anderson, IN, grandchild - Susan Helms, Hartford City, IN, grandchild - Tiffany Ickes Pauley,, Montpelier, IN, grandchild - Brittany Clark, MO, grandchild - Buffy Ross, OH, and several great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her, father - Clarence M. Himes, mother - Hassel M. (Simmons) Himes, husband - Carl D. King, sister - Margaret Ralston, brother - Clarence "Butch" Himes, sister - Nancy Hunt, and brother - John DeGraff

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W Windsor St. Montpelier, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

A service to celebrate her life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Montpelier.
