Kathy McClain, 71, of Liberty Center, IN, passed away at 4:36 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at her residence in Liberty Center, IN. She was born on Friday, September 23, 1955, in Muncie, IN. She married Jerry McClain on Wednesday, February 14, 1990, in Hartford City, IN.

Kathy graduated from Blackford High School in 1973 and from Tri-County College in Murphy, NC, where she earned her CNA degree and license. She worked at Oil City Bar, Frosty’s, Sheller-Globe, the bakery at Ingles grocery store in Hayesville, NC, and the Fieldstone Inn in Hiawassee, GA. She also worked as a live-in aide for the elderly and later worked at Walmart until her retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She will be missed by her husband, Jerry McClain, Liberty Center, IN; daughters, Stephani (Bryan) Sands, Hartford City, IN, and Michelle Risinger, Hartford City, IN; son, Jamie McClain, Montpelier, IN; grandchildren, Camron Schueler, Montpelier, IN, and Taylor Phillips, Hartford City, IN; great-grandsons, Luke Schueler, Montpelier, IN, and Levi Sousa, Hartford City, IN; sisters, Clessie Reynolds, Arlington, TX, Jean McCoin, Hartford City, IN, Patty Costa, Saugus, MA, and Loretta Youngblood, London, OH; brothers, Rolen Watters, Converse, IN, James Watters, Jr., Bulverde, TX, and David Watters, Arlington, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Watters; mother, Dortha (Winchester) Watters; son, Samuel Risinger; sister, Marsha Phillips; and brother, Darrell Watters.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, IN, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier, IN.

Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier.
