Obituary

With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Lois Jean Campbell, who entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Lois was the beloved cornerstone of her family, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a gracious friend whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her.

Born on April 18, 1933, in Roanoke, Indiana, to Margaret and Paul Beaver, Lois grew up on a Jackson Township dairy farm, where faith, family, and devotion shaped the core of her being. As the eldest of three siblings, she cherished her childhood, spending time with her family, her cousins and her classmates, and sharing in the simpler joys of Hoosier rural life – farm chores, church gatherings, school events, 4-H fairs, square dances, basketball games, and taffy pulls. She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1951, carrying with her the values of kindness, industriousness, charity, and Christian faith that would guide the rest of her life.

Lois met the love of her life, James "Jim" Campbell, through the Rural Youth club, and their love story spanned an incredible 68 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love, family, and adventure. As a devoted wife and mother, Lois found her greatest joy in raising their four children—Vicki, Mark, Ned, and Kent. Her role as "Mom" and "Helper" was her life's calling, and she poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home wherever life took them.

Whether in Michigan, Japan, or England, Lois embraced every new chapter with an open heart and a gracious spirit. She had a remarkable ability to turn any house into a home, making lifelong friends, learning new cultures, and sharing her gift of hospitality. From teaching Japanese women how to bake strawberry pies in Nagoya to hosting elegant dinner parties in Letchworth to throwing casual Sunday School parties in Yorktown, Lois delighted in bringing people together. Her home was always a place of laughter, love, and home-cooked meals, where all were welcome.

Jim and Lois created a scrapbook full of memories at their Lake Webster home, where family and friends gathered for summers filled with fun, laughter and love. Their adventures continued into retirement as they traveled across the country in their Discovery RV, embracing the beauty of America and building Habitat for Humanity homes.  They enjoyed winters together with their fellow "snowbirds" in Naples, while returning each spring, summer and fall to their cherished Indiana roots.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. She is survived by her sons, Mark and Ned, her sister Janet Husband, eight granddaughters, and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit of kindness, faith, and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her daughter Vicki, her son Kent, and her brother Ron.

A memorial service to honor Lois's life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Pointe, with visitation preceding the service from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of her life and legacy.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, causes close to Lois's heart.

Lois Jean Campbell's life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering devotion. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy of kindness and hospitality will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
