Obituary

Mark Alan McCardle, age 62, of Hartford City, IN, passed away at 1:10 PM on Friday, January 16, 2026 at his home.  He was born on Thursday, February 28, 1963, in Hartford City, IN. where he was raised and lived his entire life.

Mark was a graduate of Blackford High School. He was deeply rooted in the community he called home. He spent his working years as a semi-truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and dedication. Driving was more than just a job for Mark; it was a way of life, and he took pride in the long hours and hard work that came with it.

When he wasn't on the road, Mark could often be found working on the family farmland or tinkering in the barn, spending his time fixing equipment, handling chores, or simply enjoying the quiet that came with life on the land. The farmland was more than just property to Mark; it was part of who he was and a place where he felt grounded and at peace. He also enjoyed relaxing at home watching classic war movies, appreciating their history and storytelling.

Mark is survived by his mother, Anita Mae (Pyle) McCardle; his sister, Michelle Sluder; his nephew, Dustin Sluder, and his niece, Kasey Sluder. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Allen McCardle.

Mark was a steady and reliable presence in several people's lives and will be remembered for his quiet nature, his willingness to help, and his deep connection to his community and the land he cared for.

Mark's life was defined by hard work, loyalty, and simplicity. Whether he was on the road, in the barn, or out on the farmland, he found meaning in doing things the right way and staying true to himself. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

To honor Mark's wishes there will be no viewing or services.
