Melvin L.
Dooley
Jun 14, 1924 — Dec 3, 2024
Melvin Dooley, 100, of Warren, IN, passed away at 7:20 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. He was born on Saturday, June 14, 1924, in Grant County, IN to the late Paul & Mildred (Smith) Dooley. He married Doris Beekman on Saturday, March 20, 1943 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Marion, IN. They celebrated 75 years of marriage prior to her death in 2018. Melvin was a 1942 graduate of Marion High School and was a member of the Van Buren Central Christian Church. Melvin and Doris moved to Heritage Pointe in 2001 from rural Marion. Before moving to Heritage Pointe, Melvin was a farmer for most of his life and was employed by Anaconda Wire and Cable Company as a millwright where he would retire in 1989. He would do anything for anyone. He dabbled in woodworking and was always making wagons to haul kids around in with the tractor. His skills in construction were admirable. His children fondly recall him making a to-scale replica of the family barn for his grandson to play with. Melvin sincerely enjoyed putting a smile on someone else's face.
The family would like to acknowledge and express special thanks to longtime friends Mike and Lennis Ternet for helping the family greatly. From checking in on Melvin and bringing him snacks, to keeping the family updated on any needs, their kindness and care has been priceless.
