Rebecca Ann
Cain
Dec 3, 1940 — Aug 29, 2025
Rebecca Ann "Becky" (Combs) Cain, 84, of Montpelier, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born on December 3, 1940, in Wells County to William Layton and Faith Maxine (Mendenhall) Combs. Becky attended Eighth Ward Grade School and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1958.
On February 1, 1959, she married Jack Cain, and together they shared a beautiful life until his passing on June 29, 2020. They were blessed with three children—Brian Edward, Lori Ann, and Beth Elaine—who were the center of her heart and the loves of her life.
Becky was a devoted member of her community. She belonged to Omega Nu Tau Sorority for over 50 years, Jet-Tagettes Extension Club, Many Pennies Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, St. John's Altar and Rosary Society, and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was also active with the Red Hatters and Queen Mum.
Her career was as vibrant as her personality. Becky became a District Manager for House of Lloyd/Christmas Around the World, where her sales achievements earned her and Jack trips to many foreign countries—travels they cherished together. She also worked part time at J & J, Marsh's Deli, and The Covered Bridge Gift Shop. Additionally, she groomed dogs for over 30 years at her home, where many in the community brought their beloved pets.
Above all, Becky was a woman of faith, family, and generosity. She lived each day with joy, loyalty, and love, making a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Brian Edward (Brenda) Cain, Lori Ann (Brett) Townsend, and Beth Elaine (Chuck) Watkins, all of Hartford City; her grandchildren, Zachary (Kaylie) Kellogg Townsend, Ryan Edward (Eleesha) Cain, Orlando Aguire, Caleb (fiancée Emma King) Cain, Macie Cain, Seth Anthony (Brittney) Strait, Amanda (Josh) Kilgore, Seth Richard Watkins, and Whitney (Jordan) McCammon; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin Cain, Rowan Cain, Oliver Cain, Faith Watkins, Jase Kilgore, Jack Kilgore, Sonny Strait, Bodhi Strait, Ollie Strait, Juniper Townsend, Remi Kellogg, Everleigh Kellogg, Reid McCammon, Willow McCammon, Thatcher Sampsel, Thorin Sampsel, and Emmet Vandergriff.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Cain; her parents, William Layton Combs and Faith Maxine (Mendenhall) Combs; grandparents, Harry and Lottie (Eppert) Mendenhall and William Lawson and Amanda Jane (Johnson) Combs; and her aunt, Hope (Mendenhall) Hurst.
Viewing will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Hartford City. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 noon with Father Kevin Hurley officiating. Burial will follow beside her husband Jack in the Hartford City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
