Robert L. Runkel, age 77, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away at 11:17 AM on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at his home in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on Monday, April 26, 1948, in Geneva, IN.  Robert graduated High School in Geneva, Indiana. He worked in construction for Fort Wayne Housing Authority and was also a mechanic. Robert enjoyed collecting, hunting mushrooms, and camping.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Leland Runkel, Hartford City, IN, Cheri Runkel, Greensburg, IN, Kris Runkel, Ft. Wayne, IN, Malisa Raugh, Berne, IN, Jason Raugh, Geneva, IN, Jessica Davis, Huntington, IN, several grandchildren, siblings, Richard Runkel, Marion, IN, David (Lynn) Runkel, Wabash, IN, Joann Bolke, Gas City, IN, Gloria Anderson, Roanoke, IN, and Maxine Farris, Geneva, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dottie May (Morgan) Runkel, brothers, George Runkel, James Runkel, and Gerald (Sonny) Runkel, sisters - Wilma Stevens, and Norma Graf.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home located at 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A service to celebrate his life will follow at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2026.
