Obituary

Robert William Slusser, 92, of Warren, Indiana, died on October 13, 2026.

Bob was born on December 16, 1933, in Montpelier, Indiana, to the late William Jackson Slusser and Nellie Bennett Slusser. He was a 1951 Chester Center High School graduate.

On October 29, 1955, he married Ruth Marshall; together, they shared a lifetime of love, family, and precious memories.

Bob was a proud United States Army veteran and served in Korea as part of the peacekeeping force. Following his military service, he enjoyed long careers with General Motors and, later, Arbor Trace Golf Club.

A man of strong faith and a dedicated, longtime member of Central Christian Church in Van Buren, Bob served as chairman of the board, elder, deacon, and a Sunday school teacher. His dedication to his church and his willingness to serve others were important parts of his life.

An avid golfer, Bob spent much of his time on the golf course as well as playing his guitar, and listening to country music. He was a talented woodworker, taking great pleasure in crafting furniture for family and friends—pieces that remain cherished in their homes.

Above all, Bob treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity of faith that will continue through all those who were fortunate to have known him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Iris Ruth Slusser; his children, Rochelle Slusser Pogue (Paul) and Todd Slusser (Jacqueline); his grandchildren, Claire Pogue Kaiser, Caroline Pogue, Parker Pogue, and Carly Slusser; and his great-grandsons, Robert Kaiser and Nicholas Kaiser.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie Slusser, and sister, Mary Anderson.

Bob’s family is grateful for the kind and compassionate staff at Heritage Pointe and Huntington Parkview.

The family will hold a service to honor Bob’s life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Central Christian Church in Van Buren, Indiana.

May his memory be a blessing forever.

The family of Robert William Slusser has entrusted Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren with his care and arrangements.
