Sandra Kay Southerland, age 73, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 8:40 AM on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN.  She was born on Wednesday, April 2, 1952, in Portland, IN.  She married Dennis R.  Southerland on Saturday, March 9, 1974 in Montpelier, IN. Sandra was a 1971 graduate of Pennville High School. She formerly attended the Walnut Corner Church in Portland. Sandra had worked for Sheller Globe, Franklin Electric, CTS, and Poore Brothers. Along with her strong work ethic, Sandra was always there for her family, her 3 kids were the center of her life, and nothing was more important than spending time with them and her grandchildren.

She will be forever missed by her husband of 52 years, Dennis R. Southerland, Montpelier, IN, Mother, Vera (Worth) Middaugh, Portland, IN, sons, Dennis (Megan) Southerland, Montpelier, IN, and Rodney (Samantha) Southerland, Hartford City, IN, daughter, Anisa (Tom) Hesher, Montpelier, IN, grandchildren, Trevor, Trenton, Urijah, Braxton, Dawson, Mason, Skyla, Sarah, great grandson, Thomas, brother, Doug (Harriett) Middaugh, Nevada, and sister, Shirley Masters, Montpelier, IN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Middaugh.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home located at 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held in the Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
