Sara L. Hofstetter, age 86, of Berne, IN, passed away at 11:25 AM on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on Wednesday, February 28, 1940, in Rockford, OH.  Sara attended Geneva High School. She was a member of the Bridge Community Church. Sara worked for CTS in Berne, EPC in Geneva for 30 years, and at Swiss Village in Berne. She was an avid Ohio State and Bears fan. Sara loved her cats, flowers, and Geese but above all loved her family and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She will be forever missed by her children, John (Tessa) Hofstetter, Berne, IN, Dawn (Bob) Taylor, Geneva, IN, Kirk (Kim) Weaver, Geneva, IN, brothers, Marvin (Donna) Proffitt, Huntington, IN, Dave (Cherryl) Proffitt, Kokomo, IN, 10 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Thelma (Adams) Proffitt.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home located at 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service to celebrate Sara's life will follow at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2026 with Pastor Eric Lehman officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
