Shirley was born in Huntington, Indiana on September 20, 1935, to Charles A. and Alverta V. (Agnell) Blackford. She was a former resident of Ossian, Indiana and Avon Park, Florida. Shirley graduated from Huntington High School and later married Francis "Dean" Miller on April 18, 1954, in Huntington. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1992. She later married Burns Caldwell Griffiths on April 11, 1998, and he survives in Fort Wayne.

Shirley was a member of the Crescent Chapter OES #48 out of Bluffton, Indiana. She spent many years working for Walmart as a sales clerk and in the accounting department and truly enjoyed visiting with her customers throughout the years. She stayed busy working various accounting jobs and volunteering for hospice.

She is survived by her husband, Burns Caldwell Griffiths of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her stepson, Michael Griffiths of Charlotte, NC; stepdaughter, Denise (Tom) Nasworthy of Easley, South Carolina; sister Judy C. Barnett of Columbia City, Indiana; a granddaughter Joanne, one great grandson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Francis "Dean" Miller; and a brother, Larry.

Shirley had a love for cross stitching, sewing, cooking, traveling the country with Burns, and especially spending time with family and friends. She also adored fishing with Dean and treasured the simple joys of life.

Shirley will be laid to rest privately in the Masonic Cemetery in Warren, Indiana.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren, Indiana.
