Steven John Kendall, 69, of Montpelier, IN and formerly of New Hampshire and Maine, went to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 11:20am on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born in Rochester, NH on April 13, 1957, to Alvin and Nancy Kendall. A graduate of Spaulding High School, he worked various machine shop jobs early in life while dedicating much of his time to his true passion... youth ministry. During this time, he impacted many young lives through the Christian Service Brigade, Awana, and local youth groups, serving faithfully at True Memorial Baptist, Cambridge Baptist, and Pleasant Street Christian Churches. Over the years, he took in several troubled youths as part of the family where they were able to thrive within the healthy God-centered home, along with his wife and three biological children, Scott, Kristin, and Kevin. In 1988, Steve moved his young family to Corinna, ME, to pursue a new home and a fresh start. While attending a David Ring event at Word of Life, he answered the call to full-time ministry after which his family began serving together at Fair Haven Camps. God then led him to be the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, ME where he completed his Bible Degree through the Liberty Home Bible Institute, was ordained, and served as an influential leader within the American Baptist Churches of Maine (ABCOM) until 1999... impacting countless lives through his leadership, visitation, and sound biblical teaching.
He married Donna Jean (Mosier) Kendall on Saturday, October 8, 2005, in Augusta, Maine. She was the love of his life and remained by his side until the very end. While the two of them lived in Augusta, Steve continued his ministry passion as a leader over the Goodwill Industries Group Homes throughout New England and as a counselor with Crisis & Counseling Centers. He later returned to pastoral ministry as the pastor of Rome Baptist Church and Sidney Second Baptist Church. The two of them and daughter Gracie relocated to Montpelier, IN in recent years to retire around family. In his final years there, Steve continued to serve the Lord at Grace Community Church as a deacon, VBS leader, and teacher/preacher.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean (Mosier) Kendall of Montpelier, IN, sons, Scott John (Bekki) Kendall of Williamsport, NH, Kevin John (Angela) Kendall of Caribou, Maine, Shane Urban (Melissa) Minnich of Fort Wayne, IN, and Todd Michael (Crissy) Hough of Ossian, IN, daughters, Kristin Marie (Almir) Culum of Concord, NH, and Grace Mabel Minnich of Montpelier, IN, sisters, Dolly Ann (Dave) Libby of Windham, ME and Paula Racey of Ocala, FL, and, 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin John Kendall and Nancy Lee (Craigue) Kendall, great grandson Noah Thomas Minnich and daughter, Amy Lynn Minnich.
