Obituary

Tab Liechty (1957 - 2024) was embraced into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 21, 2024.  Tab was a legendary human being and to know him was to experience pure joy. His presence, his antics, his laugh, and his belief in God were all larger than life.

Tab was born on November 22, 1957 to Amos Liechty and Beverly (Fenstermaker) Liechty in Decatur, Indiana.  He graduated from South Adams High School in 1976.  Tab was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps for 4 years.  He was a dedicated member of the Bridge Community Church where he led the prayer team.  He chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

Tab was the kind of human that simply felt like home.  He was a constant prayer warrior, role model, coach, lover of nature, and Steelers fan.  Tab would often find himself in the middle of the Loblolly Marsh or anywhere outdoors, admiring the power of creation and his Heavenly Father.  Tab was the ultimate storyteller, often stopping at each of his sisters' homes to have a cup of coffee and to share stories of his late night trips to the Bryant truck stop and tales of how each of his animals earned their names.  Tab was a son, brother, uncle, antler shed hunter, house painter, and animal lover.  He will be so dearly missed.

Tab is preceded in death by his father Amos Liechty, grandparents Walter and Margaret (Maggie) Fenstermaker, and niece Candi Shannon.

He is survived by his mother Beverly (Fenstermaker) Liechty; sisters Monica (Kent) Stoppenhagen, Tami (Jeff) Sprunger, Marie (Gregg) Nussbaum; nieces and nephews Tyler Stoppenhagen, Drew Stoppenhagen, Clayton (Erica) Stoppenhagen, Madie Stoppenhagen, Sidney Sprunger, Anna Nussbaum, Grady (Katelyn) Sprunger, Maggie Nussbaum; and his Belgian Malinois, Roscoe the Red.
