Thomas E. "Gene" Morehouse, age 71, of Uniondale, IN, formerly of Roll, passed away at 8:26 AM on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on Wednesday, November 24, 1954, in Hartford City, IN.  He married Penny Diane (Dollar) Morehouse on Thursday, July 19, 1984 in Pennville, IN.  Gene was a 1973 graduate of Blackford High School. He worked for C&C Oil Co. in Huntington and retired from Indiana Box Corp. in Montpelier. Gene enjoyed bowling in Hartford City, fishing, and gardening.

He will be forever missed by his wife - Penny Diane (Dollar) Morehouse, Uniondale, IN, children- Andrew (Kristie) Morehouse, Decatur, IN, Lacey (Doug) Paxson, Hartford City, IN, 6 grandchildren, brothers - Jeff (Irene) Taylor, Redkey, IN, Ron Morehouse, Dunkirk, IN, sisters - Connie Morehouse , Fairmount, IN, Kathy (Randy) Risinger, Montpelier, IN, step-sister - Mary (Gary) Campbell, Hartford City, IN, and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father - Thomas Aden Morehouse, mother - Virginia L. (Anderson) Spears, Step-mother- Ann Morehouse, sisters - Betty Thornburgh, Penny Taylor, and stepbrother - Terry J. Anderson.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home located at 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A service to celebrate Gene's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 with Pastor Jesse M. Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Montpelier.
