Velma Christine Elswick, 85, of Warren, IN, passed away at 6:02pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home.  She was born on Sunday, September 25, 1938, in Hi Hat, KY to the late Jim Bob & Cora Lee (Estep) Elswick.  Velma was a graduate of McDowell High School in McDowell, KY. After relocating to Indiana, Velma enrolled in the Huntington School of Cosmetology and graduated as a beautician. She enjoyed Cosmetology so much she taught for several years at the Huntington School of Cosmetology. Velma served the community and folks from all over the United States in the years she owned and operated the Hoosierland Restaurant right off of interstate 69. In her free time, she loved reading and shopping. Velma attended Healing Waters Ministry, where she was very active in many groups and sang in the church choir.

Loving survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Dave) Woenkhaus, Warren, IN, grandchildren, Cory Lee (Jennifer) Bianchi, Greenfield, IN, Christina (Brad) Barron, Howell, MI, great grandchildren, Tyler Bianchi, Greenfield, IN, Alex Barron, Howell, MI, Noah Barron, Howell, MI, sister, Jewell Turner, Cincinnati, OH, brother, Hershel Elswick, Taylor, MI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings, Elmer Elswick, Delmer Elswick, Jeanette Martin, Anna Belle Reid, Beulah Hall, JB Elswick, Clayton Elswick, Birchelle Elswick and Larry Elswick.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home located at 203 N. Matilda St Warren, IN on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm.

A service to celebrate Velma's life will be at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home at 11am on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, with Pastors Wayne Couch and Brenda Haddix officiating. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Marion.
