Walter Lewis Rogers, 84, of Huntington, IN, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, IN.   He was born on Saturday, April 20, 1940, in Dunkirk, OH to the late Rev. Walter & Mary M. (Markley) Rogers.  Walt was a 1958 graduate of Lancaster High School. He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving in Korea 1963-1966, as a SP5 Armor Tank driver. Walt was a Union Barber beginning in the 1960s and held his license up to his passing. Over the years Walt learned many trades such as orthopedic tool & die, and Commercial HVAC.  He retired from Glenbrook Square Mall, where he worked as a Power Plant Supervisor and later re-entered the workforce as a Facilities Manager at Science Central, both of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in passing by his parents and sister, Mary Grace Johnson, Huntington, IN

Survived by his two sons: Timothy R. Rogers (wife, Michelle) of Winona Lake and Stephen M. Rogers (wife, Amy) of Warsaw. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Courtney Wallen, Brittony Rogers, Ariel Rogers, Morgan Kerns (husband, Josh), and Zoe Rogers. In addition to his grandchildren, Walt is survived by eight great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember on November 7, 2024, from 9am to 11am at Gethsemane Ministries located at 2239 Hartman St. Huntington, IN 46750. A funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor Worlie Newsome officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lancaster Cemetery in rural Huntington County, Indiana.
